Flag Ghost Belt Tensioner
The Flag Ghost project is a community belt tensioner build aimed at sim racing rigs that use a harness-based load cue.
From the outside, the appeal is easy to see: compact packaging, printed parts, and a motor-driven pull system that looks approachable for DIY builders who want something more ambitious than a fan or button box but less extreme than a full motion platform.
What stands out
Section titled “What stands out”- stepper-motor-driven approach
- heavy use of 3D printed parts
- built around harness tensioning rather than full-body motion
Why someone would copy this design
Section titled “Why someone would copy this design”This kind of build makes sense when you want a stronger braking cue without stepping all the way into a motion platform. It also makes sense if you enjoy tuning and mechanical iteration, because belt tensioners depend a lot on geometry, timing, and safe force limits.
What to check before building
Section titled “What to check before building”- how the motor, spool, and mounting points handle peak load
- whether the harness path stays comfortable through the full range of pull
- how the design behaves if the controller, motor, or power path fails
- how easy it is to service printed parts after wear or misalignment
Use the demo to judge packaging, response character, and how the system is mounted into the rig. If you plan to build from it, track down the original project details before you copy dimensions or electronics.
