Licensing and Permissions

Licensing is under review. First-party OpenSimGear software, firmware, hardware designs, documentation and other original project material are currently all rights reserved by Ivan Gregurić Ortolan, except where a specific notice identifies another rights holder.

The website and public repositories make project information publicly viewable. Public visibility does not provide an open-source license or a general license to use, copy, modify, redistribute, manufacture from or sell project material. No general personal, noncommercial or commercial license is currently offered.

Do not assume that a personal build, private modification, business use of software, hardware production or hardware sale is permitted merely because the sources or designs are public. Permissions for software use and hardware production or sales remain under review. No commercial software license or general hardware manufacturing or sales permission is currently offered through this website.

Questions about a specific permission can be sent to legal@opensimgear.org. A question or inquiry does not itself grant permission; any separate permission must be expressly agreed in writing by the relevant rights holder.

This notice does not limit rights provided by applicable law, rights granted under GitHub’s platform terms for public repositories, or any separate permission already validly granted. It does not revoke existing rights.

Third-party dependencies, libraries, tools, designs, images, data and other material remain subject to their respective licenses and notices. Their rights holders retain their rights. OpenSimGear’s all-rights-reserved notice does not replace or restrict those licenses. Preserve the applicable license, attribution and notice files, and check the specific material before reuse. References to third-party open-source projects describe those projects and do not state the licensing status of OpenSimGear’s original work.

External creative contributions are paused while licensing and contribution terms are reviewed. There is no automatic assignment or waiver of a contributor’s ownership. Read the contribution policy before sending material. Questions and factual bug reports remain possible.

The terms and conditions cover use of this website. Repository-specific notices identify the scope of the material maintained in each repository.
